From my archives, yet again!

Yama Bhaisahib bhi mazedaar hain.

Bataakar nahin aate hain.

Kabhi toh darvaaze par khatkhatkaaye bina hi ghus jaate hain,

Aur apna kam karke, moochen ponchte huey

Tahal jaate hain.

Aur kabhi toh itlaa de kar bhi

Itna waqt laga dete hain

Ki intezaar karte karte lagta hai

Ki yon hi dum nikal jaayega.

Kabhi toh aate hain, phir keh dete hain

“Abhi toh mein bahut vyast hoon,

phir aaoonga.”

Aur baithe rah jaate hain unke chahne waale,

joh kahte hain ki kitna aur bhugtaaogey, mere dost?

Miyan , tum dost ho ki nahin ho?

Tum hamein samajh mein nahin aaye.

Tumhaari samay saarani bhi toh ajeeb hai.

Kabhi ek nanhi si jaan ko le jaate ho

Kabhi bade buzurgon ko tadpate ho

Kabhi ikatthe hi poore ke poore gaon aur shahar

Havai jahaaz ya rail, kuch bhi utha le jaate ho.

Kabhi aspataal mein aankh micholi khelte ho

Kabhi kabhi doctor logon ko thodi der ke liye jeet jaane dete ho

Ajeeb ho tum, Miyan .

Phir bhi tum mere pyaare dost ho-

Ek na ek din tum aaoge zaroor.

(The Hindi font has been driving me nuts, hence no Devnagari version this time. Apologies).

  1. Sounds beautiful but I could not get it totally.
I know asking for a translation is to ruin its spirit completely.
So I will be content with :(

  2. Hi ,

    I was reading ur blog posts and found some of them to be wow.. u write well.. Why don't you popularize it more.. ur posts on ur blog ‘of this and that’ took my particular attention as some of them are interesting topics of mine too;

BTW I help out some ex-IIMA guys who with another batch mate run www.rambhai.com where you can post links to your most loved blog-posts. Rambhai was the chaiwala at IIMA and it is a site where users can themselves share links to blog posts etc and other can find and vote on them. The best make it to the homepage!

This way you can reach out to rambhai readers some of whom could become your ardent fans.. who knows.. :)

    Cheers,

    @eve's lungs,indian home maker rajk:
This was written four days before my mother-in-law passed away. The last year and a half of her life was particularly painful, both for her and to those who were witness to her suffering- a hip fracture, knee fracture, respiratory problems, coma, total memory lapse. Before that my nephew lost his two and a half month old daughter. And there are of course the usual natural disasters that keep happening. I think they just all added up.
@2b's mommy: Thanks. I guess I'm improving slowly.

Everybody- My broadband connection had conked out for a week. Survival was tough. I'm so glad to be back online!

  11. @chox, banno, mampi: Many thanks.
Banno, the Hindi font was ruining the spacing and behaving in a very arbitrary fashion, so I gave up(:
I think I'd originally written this in the Roman script on the computer so it didn't want to adapt to Devnagari.
