Give us this day our daily bread!

The lentil soup in Istanbul was served with these gigantic naan like breads.
So, for all our globe-trotting, I was a very happy desi vegetarian, happily partaking of my dal and roti in what was almost a dhaba in Taksin Square.

The tandoor is fabulous. I would have loved to bring those tiles home. :)

How yum. Nothing like fresh made naan and a simple dal :)

@artnavy: Thanks.
Istanbul is just beautiful!
@Sands: Really:)

More than the naan, it was the tiles that gripped me. Wish I could steal them for my kitchen.

Those tiles look beautiful. Thanks to you, I know what to do if I ever visit Istanbul - dal and naan it is!

@Rayna: We'd been eating there for two or three days before we even noticed the tiles and the oven!
@Lekhni: There are other good vegetarian options, lots of yogurt, cucumbers, eggplants in various forms, though some of the dishes seemed somewhat oily. I was happiest with this combination.

Similar bread is also available here,which I buy regularly,goes well with our dals,curries and subzis.But nothing like getting them hot out of the oven....tiled blue and white!!

@radha: I wondered what they'd do with the leftovers. There was no way we could finish one between the two of us.
