Most intriguing!

On our way back from Delhi last week, we saw a girl in a very heavy bridal outfit on our flight, which landed after ten p.m.
I wondered at how terribly uncomfortable she must have been, in that heavy lehnga and jewellery. It seemed rather strange. According to the SRE, there was just one couple escorting her.
Maybe she was getting married late that night in Kolkata. Maybe she'd escaped from an unwanted wedding. (In which case I'm sure she would have shed some of that jewellery).
The SRE had far more sinister scenarios in mind.
Trust us both to worry about something that is really none of our business!

@Rohini: Trust me, you don't:)

LOL! That bad, huh?

Dipali, She must have been a curious sight. It's bad enough being laden down with heavy clothes and jewellery at the wedding itself, but on a flight. Poor thing. I'd love to hear SRE's theories, a film there?

I love this, the sinister and the absurd possibilities are so immense in this story that i think i am going to be happily occupied all day.

Dipali, its like the 'situation' that a script writing prof used to give us and we had to develop the script.
Banno, remembering Saghir Ahmed :)

@Rohini: Yes, that bad!
@M4: So am I!
@Banno: Yes, with the best will in the world I found it impossible not to stare at her. I think we need to start a contest- except that we'll never know the truth:(
@Sur Notes: Tell us all your possible scenarios, should be fun!
@Chandu: No sulking, dear, I was attending a wedding in Palam Vihar which is supposed to be in Gurgaon but feels like an entirely different entity. None of this counts as Delhi, okay?

LOL! It is worrisome, indeed. But how intriguing - I hope she had run away from her wedding! That would be exciting :D

dipali said...

@D: Absolutely no idea. There may be some mundane reason for her to be dressed like that on a flight, but I can't think of any!

Of course I would have done exactly what you did. How can anyone is bridal clothes in a place like the airport go unnoticed? ;)

dipali said...

@Sands: I simply had to take this photograph, which is fortunately quite blurred! It was such a strong compulsion. I do hope I'm not violating the poor girl's privacy by posting this!

Strange! Never seen someone like this on a flight. Would love to know the other theories.

dipali said...

@Radha: Me neither! I've seen lots of highly dressed up girls with heavy jewellery and henna all over their arms and all, but never this!

a bong ms havisham perhaps and she dresses up like a bride every year on what would have been her anniversary?

dipali said...

@Aneela: She didn't look like a Bengali. Ms.Havisham dressing up perhaps, but why be on a flight?????

Is that you in the pic inspecting her finery? :)

Maybe she realised towards the end of her wedding that she was late for her honeymoon flight and took off. Maybe she took off from her wedding like a runaway bride. Maybe she was kidnapped from her wedding...ok i'll be quiet.

@The Bride: No, I was about twenty feet away taking this blurry photograph:) Wouldn't have been so obtrusively nosy! I couldn't make out if the ceremony was over or not- I was too far to see if there was visible sindoor or a mangalsutra.
I'm sure whoever saw her that day at the airport was speculating wildly!!!!!!
